China Glaze When In Doubt, Surf It Out Swatch and Review

~purchased by me~

So this is one of the many peachy-corals I have purchase in the search for a dupe of China Glaze Sun of a Peach. I'm happy to report that I have since sated that lemming, just not with this shade.

When In Doubt, Surf It Out is from this year's summer collection, Shore Off. It's a slightly dusty pinky peach/coral cream. This below picture isn't color accurate but it is what it looked like in my kitchen lighting lol.

I used three coats. Formula was good and it dried to a nice shine. These swatches are without base or top coat. The rest of the pictures are much more true to color.

This is a cute color and I can see myself wearing it as a pedicure. It's not bad on the fingers either. I got it at Sally's on red tag clearance but since it's relatively new, I'm sure you can still find it.

Zoya Noot Swatch and Review

~purchased by me~

Remember that bright yellow shade I was wearing yesterday, Almost Famous? Well, I thought I would jazz it up with some nail art. I thought to myself, easy peasy! Just slap on some striping tape in a chevron pattern on your ring finger, dab a little bit of Zoya Noot on and...

...pull it off to reveal a very ugly, crooked shape. Throw up your arms in anger, rip off the striping tape and just go ahead and paint your contrast color all over the rest of your nails and call it a swatch. Ha!

Zoya Noot

What's nice about shades like these is that you know that they'll cover in one or two coats so you can just slap them on over another manicure.

I absolutely adore grey nail polish. I also really like yellow with grey but that didn't want to work with me. Oh well! All's well that end's well.

Zoya Noot Swatch

Two coats thought you can get away with one careful one. Gorgeous color. It's dark without looking black and it goes very well with my skin tone. I'll have to wear this one on purpose some time!

You can get Zoya polishes at Ulta or from their website. Retails for $9.

Color Club Almost Famous Swatch and Review

~purchased by me~

I bought this in a set from either Marshalls or TJMaxx a few years back, can't remember which store exactly. They had the entire poptastic collection for $9. Crazy! I snatched it up even though I wasn't a really into creams at the time and I am so glad I did! This is probably my most used collection for nail art and the like. Today I have Almost Famous for review. Here's what I used!

Color Club Almost Famous

Almost Famous is an bright yellow neon cream. As to be expected with Color Club, the formula is fantastic. I used three here but you can probably get away with two.

I wished that we had Rite-Aids where I lived so I can have easy access to this brand but alas, it is not meant to be. For a little while I thought that Sally's Beauty Supply was going to start carrying the brand but that was only a few select shades over the christmas holiday. Oh well, it's for the better; if I had easy access to it that would mean I would have easy access to it and I probably have enough brands tempting me as it is :)

Color Club Almost Famous Swatch

It kind of reminds me of the powdered cheese you get in those macaroni and cheese boxes haha. I still like it though!

Though this is old you can still buy it online at several retailers. They may also have it at your discount stores like Ross, Marshalls and TJMaxx so keep an eye out! This collection is definitely worth picking up!

Wet N Wild Ferris Wheel Romance Swatch and Review

~purchased by me~

Wet N Wild Ferris Wheel Romance is from their new limited edition summer festival collection. The polishes from this collection have white caps as opposed to the regular gray caps. Ooh la la!

Wet N Wild Ferris Wheel Romance

Ferris Wheel Romance is a pink leaning pastel coral creme (mouthful!) I used three coats here but I think you can get away with two. It's just that with my freshly shorn nails, I have to relearn the amount of polish it takes to cover each nail. I still apply it as if my nails were their normal length -_-; resulting in flooding, streaks and patchiness. Sadness overall.

It's a very sweet color, dare I say reminiscent of Zoya's Wendy? I don't own Wendy to look see but I've wanted it for a while now. I'm also on the ever present hunt for my perfect peach polish. This isn't it lol, too pink. Still, very cute!

I reallly don't like this length nail on me but what can you do. These retail for only $.99! And there was a coupon for $1 Wet N Wild in last weeks newspaper so you can get these for an absolute steal if you have it! I really like this color and it's actually completely unique to my collection. Not my perfect peach but perfect in it's own way. The formula is good and the price is right, if you like this grab it while you can!

Sally Hansen Diamonds & Rubies vs Rimmel Stiletto Red Comparison

~purchased by me a long ass time ago~

So I was trying to figure out a new way to organize my swatch sticks and I stumbled upon what looked like a possible dupe! Things can look different on swatch sticks compared to on real nails though so I thought I would do a comparison for you guys!

Sally Hansen Diamonds & Rubies and Rimmel Stiletto Red
Look damn near the same though, don't they?
I know I bought these a long, long time ago, when I only had a handful of nail polishes. I had thought to myself, well you have to have the basics! And whats more classic than a nice red cream (creme?)? It's actually surprising I don't have more possible dupes for this shade but the only other red I have is more of a jelly/crelly so that doesn't count.

Sally Hansen Diamonds & Rubies and Rimmel Stiletto Red
Stiletto Red (I+M) and Diamonds & Rubies (R+P)
I absolutely adore the brush on the Rimmel Lasting Pro line. Wide and curved, it makes painting nails really easy, especially for a beginner. They only had 10 or so shades when I initially bought it but they discontinued the line now :( They've since replaced the line with one called Salon Pro I believe. The good part is that you can probably find all the shades in the line on clearance in drugstores! It's been awhile, but I think the last time I was at the drugstore I spotted some. The Sally Hansen Diamond Strength line has a nice skinny brush that is good for smaller nails (like my pinky).

Look, you can see my dumb head in the shiny reflection!
I really like the bottle on the Rimmel Lasting Pro line. They line up ever so nicely in the drawers of my helmer. The top is embossed with a little crown so they look good from above too. The brush and formula for the line was always impeccable. I recall being able to wear this with one coat (!) but I used two for swatches. They will be sorely missed. Now for the Sally Hansen Diamond Strength, this is the old bottle. I think the new bottles are all faceted, like a diamond. Pretty! Also, the little rhinestone etched into the front of the bottle is a nice touch. Both polishes are 2 coats, no topcoat.

Sally Hansen Diamonds & Rubies and Rimmel Stiletto Red
In sunlight. Yup, these are dupes.
I'm not bothered having these as dupes because red is such a basic color. You can wear it pretty much all year round (well, maybe except for spring) or really, any damn time you want, color appropriate seasons be damned. Also, I may have bought knowingly bought another red because one of them might have had trouble water marbling. I was really into that back in the day. You can buy Sally Hansen Diamond Strength polishes for about $4.49 at the drugstore. The Rimmel Lasting Pro line is discontinued but they were really cheap, probably even cheaper now that they are all being clearanced out.
